Scouting at Camp Powhatan

My son and I spent a week at Camp Powhatan in the Blueridge Mountain Scout Reservation a week ago. The weather was pretty steamy and it had been a while since I had slept outside in a sleeping bag but we had a lot of good quality father/son time.

The boys were up at 6:30 each morning and we marched down to the parade grounds for announcements and breakfast. Food was ok. Some mornings better than others.

Being a first year scout Michael spent most of his days in the Brownsea program. First Aid, Water Safety, handling a knife and fire safety were all there. The boys running the program were all Life or Eagle scouts so it was great for my son to see boys closer to his age running things.
